Guam – Chief Advisor on Economic Development and National and International Affairs Carl Gutierrez is currently pushing to establish a tourist visa waiver program for Filipino citizens.

The former governor was in the Philippines earlier this week to discuss with public officials about the possible implementation of a tourist visa waiver program for Filipino citizens to use on Guam.

In an interview with K57’s Mornings with Patti, Gutierrez said that the Filipino middle class is currently flourishing and that the program may be beneficial to the island’s tourism industry.

He also said that establishing a program exclusive to Guam may be the first step in creating visa waivers for Filipino citizens to travel to the United States.

Gutierrez said that he has sent a letter to the office of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and is waiting for their response.
