Forum on Human Rights Issue to be Held on Thursday


The forum is a part of the 2016 Festival of the Pacific Arts.

Guam – Climate change, self-determination, deep sea mining and other human rights issues will be discussed at a human rights forum to be held tomorrow as part of the Festival of the Pacific Arts.


The forum will be hosted by Blue Ocean Law Firm Attorney Julian Aguon and WestCare Pacific and the panel will touch on deepening human rights crises in West Papua, as well deep sea mining impacts on coastal communities, rising sea levels and other topics affecting the region.

The forum, titled “In Defense of the Sacred: A Regional Forum on Human Rights and the Communities that Defend Them,” is open to the public and will be held at the Hall of Governors at the Latte of Freedom tomorrow from 1:30 to 5:30 pm.
