In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and the rise in unemployment, the need for food assistance has seen a significant surge. This is why the Guam Department of Education has designated two sites to distribute food this week.
Tomorrow, May 27th, food commodity bags, and boxes will be given out at the Tiyan Upper Baseball Field from 6 am to 10 am.
On Friday, May 29th, GDOE will distribute these supplies at the Tiyan Upper Baseball Field and the Dededo Farmer’s Market from 6 am to 10 am.
A Joint Information Center release states that only 2,000 food bags and boxes will be distributed at each site on a first-come, first-served basis and may end earlier if all resources are given out before 10 am.
With the opening of these two new locations, the distribution site in Piti for GDOE’s Emergency Food Assistance Program has been closed.
Recipients will receive one bag of food commodities with items such as beans and rice and one Farmers to Families food box with fresh fruits or vegetables.
Participants are reminded to remain in their vehicles, have valid identification ready, and to wear a mask at all times.
