Guam – FSM President Emanuel Mori is on Guam for a series of meetings with members of the island’s Micronesian community and with Guam leaders.
Mori arrives in the wake of various concerns raised by the Guam Mayors Council and others over crime and gang activity within Guam’s Micronesian community.
The FSM Consul’s office told PNC News today [Tuesday] that President Mori was declining interviews for now while he focused on meeting with the leaders of Guam’s Micronesian community and with GovGuam leaders.
Tomorrow evening [Wednesday] at 6 pm President Mori will be holding a general meeting for FSM citizens residing on Guam. On Thursday, he’ll hold a second meeting with members of the Chuukese community only.
Both meetings will take place at the Dededo Senior Citizens Center. President Mori is accompanied by the new FSM Consul General for Guam, former Yap State Governor Robert Ruecho.
Ruecho has lived in Guam for the past 3 years and previously served as Governor Felix Camacho’s Advisory on Micronesian Affairs. Ruecho will replace the FSM’s current Consul on Guam Gerson Jackson.
Ruecho was confirmed as Jackson’s replacement in August, before the recent controversy surrounding Guam’s Micronesian community.
