GBB Looking For Interest In Pilot Recycling Program

Guam- Federal Receiver Gershman, Brickner and Bratton’s pilot recycling program has taken another step forward.

Solid Waste Division Administrator Linda Ibanez says GBB has issued a Request For Expressions of Interest (RFEI) for anyone interested in processing, shipping and baling recyclable items. Ibanez mentions from there, they hope to get proposals submitted and get the program launched before the end of this year.

“We’re finding an organization that would take all the consumables…which is recyclable materials from 1,000 homes. We haven’t determined those homes yet” said Ibanez. “We will work with the mayors on the recyclable items, which is cardboard, cans, glass and plastics.”

Ibanez adds she heard the University of Guam (UOG) may be interested in helping with the pilot program. She also says in the future, they will be coordinating with the Mayors’ Council on recycling metallic waste and white goods separately. However, those plans are still in development. She does mention this possible future service may be offered twice a year.
