Over 10 teams competed for GVB’s BBQ Block Party Competition, but GCC won most of the categories and earned the title.
Guam – The Guam Visitors Bureau announced the winners for the annual Guam BBQ competition and who wins bragging rights for the title of the 2016 Champion Grill Master.
The Guam BBQ Block Party took over Pleasure Island this past weekend with thousands of participants. Ten teams competed in three categories – chicken, beef and pork – but only one has earned the title of the 2016 Champion Grill Master.
The Guam Community College Team, led by Chef Paul Kerner, walked away with this top honor and also placed in the top three in all categories. For the chicken category: First Place goes to Ohana Hawaiian BBQ with GCC in second place. For the pork category: Team Meskla placed first with again GCC running second. Lastly, for the beef category, GCC took the lead with Team Meska following in second.
The Micronesian Chefs Association partnered with GVB to conduct the BBQ competition and gave away more than $4,000 in prize money.
GVB President and CEO Nate Denight says the BBQ Block Party is one of his favorite GVB signature events because it showcases Guam’s unique BBQ culture and the talent of Guam’s best chefs and pit masters. He thanks everyone for supporting this great event.
