GCC hosting Workforce Opportunities Reimagined Conference this week

Guam Community College is hosting a virtual Workforce Opportunities Reimagined Conference (WORC) from Wednesday, September 2, 2020, through Friday, September 4, 2020, 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on all three days. A virtual Career Fair will be held on Friday afternoon from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Anyone interested in attending the conference can register at https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_ugbqW1mpRg2x3tPieF8W2A or https://guamcc.edu/WORC.

Registration for the virtual Career Fair is separate from the conference and can be done at:  https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_14u9MI_2QEqVPlf6Ucy8Ig

GCC says the WORC conference provides an opportunity for Guam’s employment sectors to discuss their views of job market needs for today and in the future; to examine the training needs and economic potential as Guam rebuilds after the COVID-19 economic shock; and develop workforce solutions for economic recovery and sustainability.

“With tens of thousands of island residents currently unemployed or underemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference will explore training and certification needs and opportunities for island residents, in the areas that our economy will need as it recovers,” according to Dr. Mary Okada, GCC President.

The general public is welcome to attend, as the issues to be discussed affect our entire island. If you are looking for work or a better job, or if you are a business owner or manager needing employees with specific skills you are highly encouraged to attend this conference.

After the conference there will be a virtual Career Fair. Anyone looking for a job, or looking to advance in their career can learn from the participating companies about job opportunities available now and in the near future. You can also learn about the specific training opportunities available for you to learn a new skill or trade. You do not have to attend the conference to sign up for the virtual Career Fair.

The WORC virtual conference and the virtual career fair are offered free of charge and are made possible in part through the support of our sponsor partners: Guam Department of Labor, Sorensen Media Group and GuamWebz.
