Guam – Guam Community College has named its Valedictorian and Salutorian who will graduate along with 341 other students tomorrow [Friday].
Valedictorian – Jared Anthony Borja Taitano
Jared Anthony Borja Taitano is graduating with an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Computer Science. A 2008 graduate of George Washington High School, Jared served as president of the GCC Computer and Technology Organization (CATO). He describes himself as “not a purist” where computers are concerned, and his focus is on the software side. He was also a familiar face in the GCC Visual Communications Department as a work-study student. Instructors Elaine Fejerang and Wesley Gima describe Jared as “very bright, a quick study, and someone able to work independently and figure things out.” He plans to continue working at the Guam Law Library as a library technician, and says he may pursue his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Guam in the near future. Jared is from Agana Heights, and his proud parents are June and Roland Selvidge.

A 2008 graduate of the Academy of Our Lady of Guam, Mikayo says of her work with young children that she enjoys being with them “just as they start their educational journey.” Dr. Clare Camacho describes Mikayo as a wonderful student “whose love for children was clearly seen as I observed her during her practicum experience. She finds joy in her work and understands the important connection between the teacher and the students – especially in the early childhood years.” Mikayo resides in the village of Dededo with her proud parents, Yasukazu and Sayuri Tanaka.
