GCC truck driving boot camp 2 completion ceremony today

Guam Community College is hosting the Second Truck Driving Transportation Boot Camp Completion Ceremony at the GCC campus on Monday, May 10, 2021. The completion ceremony begins at 1:00 pm in GCC’s Multi-Purpose Auditorium (MPA).

The Truck Driving boot camp, which started in October 2020, will graduate 11 completers. Already five participants have passed their Class C license test and have been offered jobs. In addition to their truck driving training, participants also During the four-month pre-apprenticeship program, the participants were trained in carpentry, plumbing, and welding. As part of the boot camp, they were also certified in Heartsavers (CPR/first aid), OSHA-10, Work Ethic, and WorkKeys (National Career Readiness Certificate).

At a time when many on our island are unemployed or underemployed, truck driving remains an in-demand field that impacts many sectors of our economy.
