Guam- The Guam Community College (GCC) wants to build a stronger workforce on island.
In fact, GCC partnered with the Rotary Club of Guam Sunrise to host a series of workshops all day at the Marriott hotel aimed at potential career paths its students might show interest in.
Program Specialist Bobbie Leon Guerrero says by providing a panel of career specialists and skill building sessions, it’s her hope the students take what they’ve learned into the workplace.
“With the military buildup coming, this is a good session for students to attend” said Leon Guerrero. “We’re actually full to capacity. We wanted 150, we got like 160 signed up. So students definitely know that these are conferences we put on for free for them. They’re taking advantage of all the skills we’re giving them. And eventually, it’s going to mean better students we’re sending out into the workforce.”
Although the workshops end today, another one is being planned next spring. Leon Guerrero says this time, GCC students will co-facilitate the workshops. For more information, log onto guamcc.net .
