Guam – The Guam Community College held a very unique job fair on Wednesday.
The “link up” fair is being referred to as a reverse job fair in which students who are graduating from the Guam Community College’s business and visual communications programs set up individual displays to showcase their skills in GCC’s multi-purpose auditorium. The idea is to have employers browse the fair to see what kinds of skills GCC’s students have to offer. Employers can talk to the graduates one on one and take away cards and other contact information that they can refer to for future employment opportunities.
“Link up is a reverse job fair so we have students from my programs which are accounting marketing supervision management and visual communications. The students are here to showcase their portfolios and basically show employers their skills,” said GCC Business and Visual Communications Department Chairwoman Amanda Manzana.
“What’s the turnout been like so far today? Totally amazing, amazing, unprecedented well one this is our first time, but we didn’t expect this many people. So, I’m truly, truly, happy the students are extremely happy they’re over their nervousness but they’re loving it they’re loving it,” said Visual Communications Instructor Nita Cepeda.
Manzana says the event was such a success they are already planning the next reverse job fair.
