GDOE – 24 Students, 4 Employees Test Positive

TODAY, GDOE REPORTS 24 NEW COVID-19 STUDENT CASE(S):

On Tuesday, January 25, 2022, the Guam Department of Education (GDOE) confirmed 24 positive COVID-19 cases involving students. The cases were identified at Adacao Elementary School (1), Agana Heights Elementary School (1), AsTumbo Elementary School (1), B.P. Carbullido Elementary School (1), Captain H.B. Price Elementary School (1), C.L. Taitano Elementary School (1), Daniel L. Perez Elementary School (1), Maria A. Ulloa Elementary School (2), Merizo Martyrs Memorial Elementary School (1), Tamuning Elementary School (2), Wettengel Elementary School (2), Agueda I. Johnston Middle School (1), Luis P. Untalan Middle School (1), Vicente S.A. Benavente Middle School (2), George Washington High School (2), John F. Kennedy High School (2), and Tiyan High School (2). In collaboration with DPHSS, GDOE has identified and notified teachers as well as parents of students who may have been in contact with the index case in order to schedule testing. Tested individuals will remain in quarantine until they are cleared by DPHSS to return to campus. Cleaning and disinfecting of areas of the campuses are taking place to ensure schools are ready for regular hours of operation on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.

In addition, on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, the Guam Department of Education (GDOE) confirmed 4 positive cases for COVID-19 involving employees. The cases were identified at Chief Brodie Memorial Elementary School (1), Daniel L. Perez Elementary School (1), Talofofo Elementary School (1), and Luis P. Untalan Middle School (1).

GDOE WEEKLY COVID-19 DASHBOARD:

Every Wednesday, GDOE will publish its weekly COVID-19 dashboard. The dashboard will provide nformation regarding community transmission risk, new and active COVID-19 cases, employee and student vaccination rates, COVID-19 cases per school, key mitigation measures in place, and an updated GDOE assessment of weekly trends based on internal analysis as well as discussions with DPHSS and other experts.
