GDOE – 38 Students, 11 Employees Test Positive For COVID

TODAY, GDOE REPORTS 38 NEW COVID-19 STUDENT CASE(S):

On Monday, January 24, 2022, the Guam Department of Education (GDOE) confirmed 38 positive COVID-19 cases involving students. The cases were identified at Adacao Elementary School (2), C.L. Taitano Elementary School (1), Inarajan Elementary School (3), Juan M. Guerrero Elementary School (1), J.Q. San Miguel Elementary School (2), Merizo Martyrs Memorial Elementary School (1), M.U. Lujan Elementary School (2), Talofofo Elementary School (1), F.B. Leon Guerrero Middle School (3), Inarajan Middle School (1), Jose L.G. Rios Middle School (1), Luis P. Untalan Middle School (1), George Washington High School (3), John F. Kennedy High School (7), Okkodo High School (6), Simon Sanchez High School (1), and Southern High School (2). In collaboration with DPHSS, GDOE has identified and notified teachers as well as parents of students who may have been in contact with the index case in order to schedule testing. Tested individuals will remain in quarantine until they are cleared by DPHSS to return to campus. Cleaning and disinfecting of areas of the campuses are taking place to ensure schools are ready for regular hours of operation on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

REPORTS 11 NEW COVID-19 EMPLOYEE CASE(S):

In addition, on Monday, January 24, 2022, the Guam Department of Education (GDOE) confirmed11 positive cases for COVID-19 involving employees. The cases were identified at Finegayan Elementary School (1), J.Q. San Miguel Elementary School (2), Machananao Elementary School (1), Agueda I. Johnston Middle School (1), Luis P. Untalan Middle School (1), George Washington High School (1), John F. Kennedy High School (2), and Southern High School (2).

NOTE: Student and employee cases confirmed over the weekend are included in the GDOE’s Monday report as school campuses are closed for the weekend.
