The Guam Department of Education Division of Special Education encourages parents to attend a virtual parent workshop series focused on the Individualized Education Program (IEP) over the next several weeks.

The first event in a three-part series takes place next week and is titled, “Understanding Your Child’s IEP.” Topics that will be covered throughout the workshop include the IEP components, the role and responsibility of the parent in the IEP process, and parent rights related to the IEP. All parents of children who are currently eligible for special education and related services are invited to attend.

The first session will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. via Zoom video conferencing. Dates and times for upcoming sessions will be announced at a later date.

Interested parents must register and/or request reasonable accommodations by contacting Parent Services Coordinator Laura Taisipic at 300-1322 or at Once registered, parents will receive the Zoom link to participate. The deadline to register and to request reasonable accommodations is Friday, October 30, 2020.

As an incentive for parents to attend, coupons for 76 Circle K will be mailed to families who attend the workshop.

This activity is 100% federally funded through Guam’s IDEA Part B Grant, CFDA#84.027A.
