GDOE updates high school graduation requirements

The graduating class of 2021 will have different graduating requirements.

Guam – All incoming high school freshman will now have new course options this fall.

As part of an update to the Guam Department of Education’s board policy, the graduating class of 2021 has the ability to take higher levels of math courses.

In compliance with the College and Career Readiness Act, the Board of Education updated their policy at their last GEB meeting to reflect one single unified track for college and career readiness.

In the past, students had the option of choosing between two different tracks: college or career.

Students who chose the career path previously did not have the option to take higher levels of math, but these classes have since been opened and are now encouraged to be taken as they’re needed for both college entrance and today’s workforce.
