Guam – The Guam Education Board will meet tonight. According to the board chair Ron Ayuyu they will continue with November’s agenda because it was suspended due to the special board meeting with DOE superintendent Dr. Nerissa Underwood regarding bullying and harassment taking place inside the public schools.
Ayuyu says nearly two weeks ago the board voted to issue a letter of reprimand to DOE Superintendent Dr. Nerissa Underwood. One board member, Joe S. San Agustin announced that he has changed his mind and would like to withdraw his vote for a reprimand. That could change the outcome and result in no reprimand being issued. Ayuyu says they will discuss that Monday night.
Ayuyu says if San Agustin doesn’t get the vote, then his vote will stand. Ayuyu also adds they will discuss the prevention and intervention against bullying and sexual harassment, an update on the school uniform policy and student cell phone use on school campuses. Ayuyu would like to see the board wrap up everything that is on the agenda before they head into the new year. This board meeting will be at 6pm in the DOE conference room.
