Today is the first day to officially file for candidacy.
Guam – In just the first few hours of operation, the Guam Election Commission already received more than 20 candidate packet. According to GEC Director Maria Pangelinan, the commission mostly received mayoral candidate packets. Pangelinan says this election is off to an interesting start with the competition among villages. Interested candidates have until June 28 to file, however, Pangelinan explains, it’s best to file sooner in case anything might be missing from the candidate packet. Once the package is complete, GEC will then forward the packet to the board to ratify the candidacy.
Pangelinan says, “The biggest thing is for them to attend the candidate seminar. Make sure that they prepare their questions, come in, bring their packet and if they have questions, that’s the great time to ask. Come or call the offices or email us if they have questions that need clarification.”
Pangelinan also reminds residents to register to vote. For more information, call GEC at 477-9791.
