Geckos Retain Winning Ways

Guam – It’s been like this for years now… the George Washington Lady Geckos starting another volleyball season undefeated.  Last night the Geckos survived a heated first set.

The Guam Panthers struck first but both wouldn’t budge and the scoring was neck to neck until the end of the set.  The Geckos would end up taking the first set 25-23 with the Panthers committing crucial errors towards the end of the set.

The second set was all Geckos.  The Panthers would commit one too many errors.  Blocking errors and service errors would be the determining factor in the demise of the Panthers in the second set.  The Geckos would go on to take the set and match 25-16.

This moves to Geckos to 3-0 and are off to a good start.  Last season the Geckos were undefeated up until the playoffs where the St. John Knight’s upset them in the postseason.  The Geckos will face the Academy Cougars next while the Panthers will take on the combined team of the St. Thomas Aquinas and guam Adventist Academy.
