GEDA awards $303,000 in economic development QC Series 3 grants

The Guam Economic Development Authority (GEDA) has awarded 7 organizations a total of $303,000 in Qualifying Certificate Community Contribution Series 3, or QC3 grant funds, made available through the qualifying certificates of the Guam Regional Medical City and the newly opened Tsubaki Hotel.

Additionally, GEDA announced that another $300K will be available in Series 4 QC Community Contribution Grant Funding in the coming week.

Melanie Mendiola, GEDA Administrator said, “Rebuilding our economy starts with investing in our people. From workforce development to encouraging entrepreneurship and small business start-ups, the Leon Guerrero Tenorio Administration has consistently been supportive of GEDA’s efforts to build a stronger local economy.”

“The focus of this series of grants was solely on organizations involved in entrepreneur incubation or training individuals in new industries. The individuals who will ultimately benefit from these programs include the unemployed, underemployed, incarcerated, or even those without a high school diploma.” An evaluation panel selected these organizations based on their immediate impact on the job market and track record of developing Guam’s workforce and small businesses. Additionally, historic performance with regard to managing grant funding and organizational capacity was also a key criterion.

A virtual awards presentation will be held on Monday, April 5th at 1:00 p.m.
