An award presentation was held Monday for the recipients of the Guam Economic Development Authority’s Qualifying Certificate Community Contribution (QCCC) Series 4 Grant Program.
The QCCC Grant Program utilizes community contributions from Qualifying Certificate beneficiaries to support local community needs and priorities.
The grant funding is provided by the Guam Regional Medical City Qualifying Certificate.
In her remarks during the presentation, Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero commended GEDA for doing its part in trying to continuously stimulate the recovery of the island through programs such as the QCCC program.
“I know that initially when we got in office, Mel and I were talking about this. We want it to be more meaningful to the community. We wanted to be able to spread it out more for many, many projects that will benefit,” Leon Guerrero said.
The governor described all the grant awardees as well-established community organizations. “But we also wanted to help you in every way you can so you can reach your mission all for the greater good of our island and our people.”
She added: “So I’m very happy and want to congratulate all of you. I think it’s money well spent. All of these other grants are going to benefit all of us.”
