Guam – A blaze in the Harmon area was quickly snuffed out by the Guam Fire Department Tuesday afternoon. The department said it is investigating the cause of the fire.

What started out as a case of unauthorized controlled burning quickly evolved into a situation that got out of hand. A look at the scene shows two metal burning drums that may have been used to burn in the area where the fire occurred.

GFD spokesman Kevin Reilly said that firefighters discovered the storage container upon arrival. According to Reilly, the fire occurred behind Med Pharmacy in Harmon near the old flea market.

GFD has not provided any information regarding how the fire may have started as of news time.
