GFD responds to smoke from Public Health building

Security staff at the DPHSS building in Mangilao noticed smoke coming from the building and the Guam Fire Department was called to the scene at about 11:15 p.m. A Guam Power Authority crew shut down power to the facility.

At approximately 11:15 p.m. Tuesday night, Guam Fire Department units were dispatched to the Public Health Building in Mangilao after security noticed smoke coming from an opening and called 911.

GFD units arrived and entered the building while Guam Power Authority crews shut down the power to the facility.

Although smoke was apparent throughout the building, a search of the interior premises revealed no evidence of fire. Ventilation was performed and DPHSS management was informed.

A further look into what may have caused the smoke will be conducted by DPW and DPHSS facilities personnel.
