The Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association held its 5th vaccination clinic at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Tumon.
GHRA has been hosting free vaccination clinics since March of this year, specifically targeting employees in the hotel and restaurant industry.
American Medical Center physician Dr. Hoa Nyguen took note of the many groups of families that came in to the outreach and is happy that they are taking the initiative to be safe.
Within the first hour, Dr. Nguyen said they were able to administer 280 of the vaccines they had on hand.
“That’s what we want. We want the children ages 12 – 17 to come out with their parents to get vaccinated and we’re really happy that there’s a lot of families here. We’ll try to do our part to get the island to herd immunity by the end of July so we can all celebrate Liberation Day at the end of July,” Dr. Nguyen said.
Although the vaccination clinic was open to the public, it’s original, initial intention is still to vaccinate those who work in the hotel and restaurant industry to prepare for the re-opening of tourism.
“We wanted to make sure we vaccinate the majority of the tourist workers so that way when we open up the island for the tourists, they know that when they come to a destination where people have been vaccinated, it’s safer to be in that environment,” Dr. Nguyen said.
The next Hyatt vaccination clinic will be on June 18 from 4 – 7pm and will be open to the public once again
They will have the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines available at the site.
