Are you looking for a job, and would like to gain valuable work experience? Then look no further. The Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association has launched its new Pre-Apprenticeship Program.

According to GHRA, the program includes seven 12-week training courses at three different locations including the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa, Beachin’ Shrimp 2 and Hyatt Regency Guam from Aug. 26 through Nov. 16, 2019.

The short-term certification courses are entirely free and required course materials will be provided. Registered participants will undergo four hours of instructional class time per week.

GHRA will offer seven programs for its first group of cohorts including five courses developed by the AHLEI START Program in the areas of facilities maintenance, kitchen cook, guest room attendant, front desk representative, and restaurant server.

The remaining two courses are developed by certified professionals in the field of occupational health and safety as well as digital marketing. The training offers up skills development for incumbent employees that would be interested in working in the tourism industry.

Upon successful completion of each course, participants will receive a recognized Certificate of Completion from GHRA and Guam Department of Labor, the option to obtain a national certification from AHLEI-registered courses, and required licenses for employment.

Due to many inquiries, GHRA will be extending the deadline to enroll from Aug. 9 to Friday, Aug. 16, 2019. “This is a unique program for GHRA and we’d like to give everyone an opportunity to plan ahead and consider participating in the program,” stated Mary P. Rhodes, President of GHRA.
