GHURA Applies for $4.4M Federal Grant

Guam – The Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority [GHURA] has applied for grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to fund Program Year 2011 Annual Action Plan Activities.

The Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority submitted a federal grant application to the Guam State Clearinghouse (GSC) requesting $4,464,488 from the Department of Housing and Urban Development for Program Year 2011 Annual Action Plan Activities.

The consolidated application consists of three components, (1) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) – $3,085,838, (2) HOME Investment Partnership Grant – $1,237,796, and (3) Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) – $140,854. Funding for these components will go towards providing affordable housing, improving community facilities and services, expanding economic opportunities and supporting the needs of low-income individuals and special needs populations.

Many of these funds, particularly those relating to CDBG, will be sub-granted to various local and non-profit agencies.
