The Guam Housing and Urban Renewal and the Department of Parks and Recreation officially unveiled the upgrades to the baseball park at the Dededo Sports Complex during a ribbon cutting ceremony Wed morning.
Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. GHURA executive director Ray Topasna and other government officials graced the opening.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant program is the funding source for this project. It was intended to serve the tri-districts of Dededo, Yigo, and Tamuning. It is estimated that over 50,000 low-income and moderate individuals would benefit from these enhancements.
The upgrades include a new ADA compliant, multi-purpose two-story structure. The building includes restrooms, vendor concession areas, and observation deck. The project also includes new construction of accessible sidewalks, along with a paved expansion of the existing parking area. The total cost of the project is $779,480.
