Guam – GHURA has distributed about $42,750 to four recipients THURSDAY who have graduated from the FSS program. GHURA issued over $20,000 to three recipients back in August of this year.
“We are extremely pleased that many who participated in this program have successfully met the requirements and are now self-sufficient. Since the begining of this administration, we have recognized 7 individuals for completing this program and have rewarded them with over $60,000 collectively. We congratulate these individuals and wish them the best,” said Marcel Camacho, GHURA Executive Director.
Family Self-Sufficiency [FSS] is a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development program.
It encourages communities to develop local strategies to help families under the Housing Choice Voucher and Public Housing programs obtain employment that will lead to economic independence and self-sufficiency.
Public Housing agencies work with welfare agencies, schools, businesses and other local partners to develop a comprehensive program that gives participating FSS family members the skills and experience top enable them, to obtain employment that pays a living wage.
