Guam – The Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Guam (GIAA) will be celebrating the 37th Anniversary of their creation in
1974 under Public Law 13-57.
Traditionally the airport celebrates a weeklong of activities, known as Airport Week to commemorate their anniversary with sporting events and social events between them and their aviation industry partners.
This year’s Airport Week kicked off with an official proclamation signed this morning [Friday] Adelup.
A Tenant Appreciation Banquet follows this evening for invited airport tenants and vendors at the Hyatt Regency Guam.
On Sunday, January 13th, the Airport family will celebrate together at a 7:30 am Airport Family Mass at the Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica.
The Sunday afternoon, a Bowling Tournament will take place at 10:30 am at Central Lanes. Both the Basketball and Softball Tournaments kick-off on Monday evening, January 14th at the Agana Heights, Gym and ball field and will last the duration of the week.
On Tuesday, January 15th at 8:30 am, an army of GIAA employees and their airport partners will participate in a FOD-walk on the AOA (airfield operations area), wherein everyone picks up trash, foreign objects and debris (FOD).
On Wednesday, January 16th, at 4:00 pm, a friendly Wave will take place in the parking lot at the Route and terminal road intersection. A Golf Tournament at the STARTS Guam Golf Resort on Thursday, January 17th takes place at 11:00 am as the week cornes to an end. The final sporting event is a Paddling Challenge on Saturday, January 19th at the Matapang Beach in Tumon at 8:00 am.
The finale will be a Social Mixer on Sunday, January 20th, after the culmination of the Basketball and Softball tournaments. The Social Mixer will take place at the Coconut Cove (formerly Meskla on the Cove) in Tamuning. Attached is the entire schedule of events and the Contact information for the different events.
