With the season of giving just around the corner, what better way to start than to announce December 1st as Giving Tuesday.
Earlier today, a virtual proclamation signing was live-streamed, declaring tomorrow, December 1st, 2020, as Giving Tuesday.
The independent non-profit Giving Tuesday was established back in 2012 in New York and it started out as an idea that had turned into a global generosity movement that motivates millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
Speaker Tina Muna Barnes, in her remarks during the event, said that despite the island facing many uncertainties caused by the pandemic, the community still finds ways to help one another.
“Though Guam is experiencing many challenges, like the rest of the world, that never stops us from providing that Inafa Maolek spirit on what we’re known for as an island people,” the Speaker said.
As part of the movement, Catholic Social Services will be distributing 1000 bags of emergency food assistance to those affected by the pandemic tomorrow at the CSS Barrigada Heights Parking lot via drive-thru service from 9 am – 4 pm.
The entry of the drive-thru will be at the northbound entrance of the DRT parking lot.
