Guam – The man who could become the next Administrator of Guam Memorial Hospital has wrapped up a short visit to the island.
Lawrence Schindler is the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority Board of Trustees top pick to lead GMH. The board flew Schindler to the island for an interview on Sunday to meet him and allow Schindler to also meet with island leaders.
Board of Trustees Chairman Lee Webber says Schindler is a nice man and he hopes he will consider taking the position of Administrator at GMH.
Webber says that even if Schindler accepts the offer the Board gave him this week, his hire will not be official until Board Members vote on it and after the Governor gives his approval.
During a roundtable discussion with lawmakers on Tuesday Board Member Albert Gurusamy said Schindler’s visit to Guam cost the hospital about $4,000 including airfare, hotel lodging and per Diem.
Schindler is currently the Director of Operations and Business Development at the University of Nevada School of Medicine.
The Board of Trustees will meet again on November 17th.
