Hospitalizations for COVID-19 reached their highest since March this morning, with GMH reporting 62 patients. Of the 62, 10 are in ICU, three are on ventilator support and eight are at the Skilled Nursing Facility.

GMH had seen a steady rise in cases the past few weeks with 52 in-patients reported Friday. That’s since increased by 10.

In addition, the COVID Isolation Facility (CIF), also known as the Skilled Nursing Facility in Barrigada Heights, was opened Friday as well. The CIF will be used to treat stable, acute, and subacute COVID-19 patients.

During a conversation with Patti Arroyo on K57 last week, GMH administrator Lillian-Perez Posadas said GMH is up to the challenge and has been able to serve the community during previous spikes.

She added that contractors and U.S. Army personnel are working together to update medical equipment and increase bed capacity at the hospital.

At the time of the interview, the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients at GMH had numbered in the 50s.
