GMH loses Joint Commission accreditation

The island’s only public hospital has failed to receive accreditation from the Joint Commission.

Guam – The US-based accreditation team grounded their decision on two assessments of GMH: a “for-cause survey” last August and an “on-site validation survey” in January of this year.

The Guam Memorial Hospital Authority released a statement around 8 AM assuring the local community that the medical facility still holds its CMS certification, and that “although the Joint Commission’s denial of accreditation is effective July 16, 2018, GMHA has and continues to deliver on its commitment and mission to provide quality patient care services.”
