GMH Volunteers Association Raise Money For Hospital Through Bake Sale & Charity Ball

Guam- Keeping the hospital’s financial troubles in mind, the Guam Memorial Hospital Volunteers Association banded together for a special bake sale fundraiser Friday.

The women of the association baked special Valentine’s Day themed treats for GMH patrons as part of their quarterly events to raise money for the hospital. GMHVA Chair Cecilia Solidum says they are also selling a special cookbook at the hospital gift shop for $15, which was put together through recipe contributions from each member. With the upcoming annual charity ball, Solidum is excited to be giving from the heart.

“It’;s one of our charity drives at the hospital. It’s one [way] to help the hospital and you know the hospital status now” said Solidum. “So we try to raise money as much as we can. Each member donates something.”

Last year, the volunteer association raised over $100 thousand dollars for GMH. Solidum says this year, they’re looking to raise at least $80 thousand.
