Guam –  The Guam Memorial Hospital and Saipan’s hospital, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC) are working more closely together for quality
healthcare improvements on our islands.

Cindy Hoepner, MPH, Director of the Corporate Quality and Performance Management Dept. for Saipan’s CHC visited Guam this week to continue the mentoring partnership she established with GMH since 2012.  She was at GMH Monday and Tuesday this week for more fact finding and shadowing of GMH’s quality management, risk management, performance improvement and utilization review programs.  CHCC’s Director of Nursing and Infection Control Coordinator are also expected to visit GMH before the year’s end to work closely with their GMH counterparts for improvement opportunities they also can take back to their Saipan depts.

According to Ms. Hoepner: “It has been a pleasure and rewarding experience in continuing the ongoing relationship, communication, and partnership with
GMH who is assisting in providing the CNMI with the basic tools essential for a hospital’s quality management program.  This is an evolving
partnership that should never end as we share the same populations, cultures, challenges and opportunities.”

GMH is an approved provider for the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) and also has been recently granted full re-accreditation status by the
Joint Commission.  GMH’s full accreditation standing indicates that it fulfills the nation’s highest healthcare standards and that GMH is committed to continuously improve the safety and quality of patient care provided to the people of Guam.  For further information, please call Joseph P. Verga, GMH’s CEO at 647-2418.
