Guam – Governor Eddie Baza Calvo Monday met with the Regional Director for the Office of Energy Adjustment, Gary Kuwabara.
A release from the Governor’s office states that the meeting took place ahead of a trip the Governor will take to Washington D.C. late next month.
Governor Calvo is slated to meet with President Barack Obama, other state governors, and an interagency group dealing with issues for the U.S. Territories.
Kuwabara and Governor Calvo discussed the potential impacts of the upcoming federal budget act, and plans to meet with senior officials in the Department of Defense next month.
The release quotes Governor Calvo as saying
“I came to Guam to have a dialogue with Governor Calvo and Lt. Governor Tenorio. I wanted to get a sense of the issues that are important to them, to help prepare for the upcoming National Governors Association and Interagency Group on Insular Areas events.”
“This past week, including today, really sets the tone for the relationship between my administration and President Obama’s. I want to work with them, and they want to work with us. It’s a great collaborative effort. It’s also the attitude needed to get the best for Guam from this buildup, and to resolve a number of our longstanding issues with the federal government.”
