Gov. Calvo’s Personal Preference is Statehood for Guam

Guam – Governor Eddie Calvo is quoted in a recent Washington Post article as saying he supports the statehood option for Guam and according to the governor’s spokesperson, Oyaol Ngirairikl statehood has always been a personal preference of the Governor.

 

Calvo is quoted twice in the article for preferring statehood as an option for Guam. The article focused on Guam’s push for a political status vote. A commission on decolonization meeting in July will debate whether or not Guam should move ahead with a plebiscite vote in the general elections in November. According to GEC records, as of June 21, there are 10,691 people signed up for the decolonization registry.
