Governor Eddie Calvo issued a special address in honor of Veteran’s Day.
The Governor spoke about the importance of Veteran’s Day to remember the sacrifice made for the country by so many brave men and women. He spoke about how these men and women took time away from their families and loved ones to protect the rights and freedoms afforded to Americans. The Governor said that our veterans “represent the very best of America, our Micronesian region and our island.” He spoke about the hundreds of sons and daughter from Micronesia which have given their lives “so we could live ours.”
“From World War II to battles in Iraq, our people understand the price of war. We are intimately familiar with the price that had to be paid for the peace we have enjoyed for decades. You give us hope. You are freedom’s heroes, the defenders of justice, and promoters of peace,” said Governor Calvo.
The Governor ended his address saying he salutes all the men and women, “who bravely answered the call to freedom.”
