Guam – Governor Eddie Calvo Tuesday appointed Senator Tom Ada to replace Senator Ben Pangelinan on his Fiscal Responsibility Commission.
Senator Ada joins Senators Judi Guthertz, Dennis Rodriguez, and Adolpho Palacios as the Democratic members on the Commission.
Senators Frank Blas, Jr. and Tony Ada will represent the republican minority.
A release quotes Governor Calvo as saying: “I want to thank the senators for believing in this process of bringing everyone together to help our people. This is important, and I’m so glad Vice Speaker Cruz, Speaker Won Pat, and Senators Frank Blas, Tom Ada, Tony Ada, Judi Guthertz, Adolpho Palacios and Dennis Rodriguez are stepping forward to help. These problems are not Democrat or Republican problems. They are problems that affect all of Guam, and it will take all of us to solve these problems for everyone.”
The commission will hold its first meeting Thursday at 8:30 am in Governor’s Conference Room at Adelup.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

As a result of Senator Ben Pangelinan rejecting Governor Eddie Baza Calvo’s appointment to the Fiscal Responsibility and Tax Refund Commission, the Governor today appointed Senator Tom Ada to the group.
“I’m so thrilled to have Tom serve on this commission,” Governor Calvo said. “These are exciting times—full of the Chamorro spirit of cooperation. I know that together, the administration and the Legislature can get our financial house in order, and give all Guamanians their tax refunds by Christmas.”
Sen. Tom Ada will join Senators Judi Guthertz, Dennis Rodriguez, and Adolpho Palacios as members of the Legislative majority in the group. As outlined in the Executive Order that created the commission, the Legislature’s minority has appointed two members to the group: Senators Frank Blas, Jr. and Tony Ada.
“I want to thank the senators for believing in this process of bringing everyone together to help our people,” Governor Calvo said. “This is important, and I’m so glad Vice Speaker Cruz, Speaker Won Pat, and Senators Frank Blas, Tom Ada, Tony Ada, Judi Guthertz, Adolpho Palacios and Dennis Rodriguez are stepping forward to help. These problems are not Democrat or Republican problems. They are problems that affect all of Guam, and it will take all of us to solve these problems for everyone.”
First Meeting Tomorrow
The commission will hold its first meeting tomorrow, at 8:30 a.m. in Governor’s Conference Room, Bordallo Governor’s Complex.
“I also thank Speaker Won Pat for her recent appointments,” Governor Calvo said. “This shows she believes in this idea that Vice Speaker Cruz first proposed and that we are pursuing together. We look forward to working with Frank Schacher and former Sen. Matt Rector. Frank is a businessman who knows the struggles the small business community faces. Former Sen. Rector brings much-needed perspective of how fiscal policy affects the labor force, and what we can do to make things better for public and private workers.”
