Governor assembles fiscal strike team and shuffles directors

Guam – Governor Eddie Calvo has announced the assembly of a fiscal strike team and the shuffling of some agency heads.

Effective today the governor’s special assistant for infrastructure, invasive species and environment Eric Palacios will take over as director of the customs and quarantine agency. The current director James McDonald will move to serve as the deputy director of the Department of Corrections. The current Deputy Director Kate Baltazaar will become general manager of the Public Broadcasting Services or PBS Guam.

Meanwhile, the fiscal strike team will be lead by DOA Deputy Director Vince Arriola and it will include key cabinet members, the Department of Rev & Tax, Bureau of Budget Management & Research, Office of Technology, and Guam Customs and Quarantine. The team will focus on identifying weak areas of revenue collections. They will be taking a look at things like use tax, tobacco tax, Air BNB and real property tax.
