Guam – Governor Eddie Baza Calvo met with the Consular Corps of Guam. The leaders pledged to work together and to help each other improve the lives of all Guamanians. Members of the group included the Consuls General of Palau, FSM, Korea and the Philippines, Director General of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Honorary Consul of France and New Zealand and the CNMI Liaison Officer.
The group talked with the Governor about issues affecting the region, including Guam’s tourism industry and the Governor’s upcoming visit to the Capitol. The Governor briefed them on his scheduled trip to Washington, D.C. He offered to present any concerns or issues needing attention to the Department of Defense or the State Department for them.
Prior to this administration the Consular Corps of Guam have had little communication with the Governor’s office. The group was pleased when the Governor committed himself to at least two formalized communication functions a year with the group. The first of two formal events will be scheduled within 60 days after the Governor’s return from Washington, D.C.
