Guam – Ed Cruz will be the Chief Information Officer, Bureau of Information Technology for the government of Guam. Governor Eddie Baza Calvo made the announcement this morning. As the CIO, Cruz will be heading BIT, which provides IT planning, support services, and dictates IT policy to the entire government.
“Ed has the know-how and commitment needed to revamp and refresh our government,” Governor Calvo said. “He has the full support and cooperation of the office of the Governor as we create a government that is more transparent and accountable to the public.”
Ed Cruz has been managing information technology infrastructure and services for the past 12 years. His professional experience includes time at the Bank of Guam and, most recently, in the Camacho-Cruz administration in the Bureau of Information Technology. During his time at BIT, Cruz successfully overhauled and managed the IT infrastructure and information systems at the Department of Public Health and Social Services. He also works as an adjunct instructor for the computer science department at Guam Community College. Cruz has earned many industry-standard certifications including those from Microsoft and Comp TIA. He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix.
