Governor Calvo promises to improve quality of life for all veterans on Guam

On Saturday Governor Eddie Calvo held a Veteran’s Day ceremony at the Governor Joseph Flores memorial park at Ypao beach in Tumon.

The Governor gave thanks to the brave men and women of yesterday and today who step forward to defend the nation and its freedom. The Governor praised Guam’s veterans for serving both their island and their country with honor. He recognized the sacrifices made by the brave veterans and their families who paid the ultimate sacrifice for liberty and freedom. He spoke about the heartbreaking meetings he has had with the families of those veterans from Guam who gave their lives in defense of the country.

“More than 40 sons and daughters of Micronesia have been repatriated to Guam, Palau the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall islands just in these past two decades as we’ve fought terror. Now that number soars into the hundreds when we consider the level of patriotism that has sent our sons and daughters to wars in foreign lands and whether it was Korea, Vietnam, the Middle East, Africa or Southwest Asia. Now we cannot bring back your loved ones but I can assure you we will always remember them.” said Governor Calvo.

Governor Calvo thanked all of the men and women who have served and those who continue to serve their country. He promised to continue to work to improve the quality of life for all veterans on Guam.
