Governor Calvo: Raising Taxes NOT an Option

Guam – Despite the dire financial situation GovGuam finds itself in, Governor Eddie Calvo says that he has no plans on raising taxes to cover what his administration is projecting as a $116 million dollar cash shortfall. A Tuesday release from the Calvo Administration  stated that GovGuam will either have to borrow money, cut costs or find revenue enhancements to cover the shortfall.

But Governor Calvo Wednesday made it clear that revenue enhancements does not mean raising taxes.

“I wanna be very clear,” he told PNC News, “that I don’t believe in raising taxes so I don’t see that as not an option.”
