Guam – In his first official day in office, Governor Eddie Baza Calvo appointed three more members of his cabinet. The announcement was made this morning at the first cabinet meeting for the Calvo Tenorio administration:
* John C. Salas will be the Chief of the Guam Fire Department
* Col. Ralph Sgambelluri will be the acting Director of Guam Customs & Quarantine Agency
* Tommy Morrison will be the Director of the Bureau of Statistics and Plans
“John, Tommy, and Ralph all share my belief that the government’s most valuable assets are its employees,” Governor Calvo said. “These men possess the hard work and dedication found throughout the cabinet, and their professional experience will be a great compliment to their respective agencies.”
Cabinet members also received their official appointment letters today.
John C. Salas served for 35 years at the Guam Fire Department. He retired at the rank of Battalion Chief, and was the Bureau Chief of GFD’s Emergency Medical Services Rescue division. Col. Ralph Sgambelluri has been working with Guam Customs & Quarantine Agency since 1979. He started out as Customs Officer I, and worked his way up the ranks, through all of the agency’s divisions, and achieved the rank of Chief of Customs. Col. Sgambelluri is one of two people in Guam’s history to do this.
Tommy Morrison began his decade-long career of public service in the Legislature, serving in the Committee on Ways and Means for then-Senator Kaleo Moylan. He was appointed to be Deputy Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation in the Camacho-Moylan administration, and also served as the department’s Director in the Camacho-Cruz administration. Most recently, Morrison led the Guam Contractors Licensing Board as its Executive Director. He holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Guam.
