Guam – Governor Eddie Calvo Tuesday met with U.S. Army Secretary John McHugh.
According to a release from Adelup, the two discussed the buildup of forces on Guam, and the Army’s growing role in the Pacific.
They also talked about the possibility of stationing the THAAD defense system, currently deployed at Andersen AFB, permanently here on island.
Secretary McHugh also recognized and commemorated the 69th anniversary of Guam’s liberation from Japanese occupation. During the Battle of Guam, soldiers from the 77th Infantry Division fought along with the Marine Corps to overthrow Japanese military forces.
