Governor eases more restrictions on contact sports, places of worship


Governor Lou Leon Guerrero has signed Executive Order No. 2021-08, easing additional restrictions during Pandemic Condition of Readiness 3.

Under the order, competitive contact sports or athletics will be allowed effective 8 am on Friday, April 16, 2021.

This new policy includes contact sports or athletics at educational institutions, which may resume competition subject to applicable guidance from the Department of Public Health and Social Services. The guidance will include limits on spectators, requirements for sanitation, and the wearing of masks when practicable.

In addition, the executive order also increases the occupancy for places of workship.

Effective 8 am on Friday, April 16, 2021, places of worship many increase occupancy to no more than 75 percent of occupancy load.

Places of worship intending to operate under this modified occupancy load must submit revised facility mitigation plans to DPHSS.

Places of worship shall additionally observe all mitigation measures imposed in applicable DPHSS guidance, including social distancing of at least 6 feet, the p[osting of appropriate signage, the frequent cleaning of all surfaces, and mandating the wearing of face masks.
