Governor Lou Leon Guerrero said she is firm on asking Joint Region Marianas Commander Shoshana Chatfield for a limited “pause” on military construction activity.
In an interview with the Patti Arroyo show on K-57, the governor said she will request for a pause on the work around the rare Serianthes Nelsonii tree.
But Leon Guerrero stressed that she wants a pause of work only around the tree, and not a pause for the entire project.
The governor also commented on any possible economic impact the pause in military construction may cause.
“There is always a concern about economic impact. But the rules have to be followed. The Programmatic Agreement has to be followed because that’s part of the agreement,” the governor stressed.
