Governor Lou Leon Guerrero has assured government of Guam employees that the new health insurance contract with Aetna will provide them with the same level and quality of service, if not more.
In an interview with the Patti Arroyo show on NewsTalk K57, the governor said change always produces anxiety.
But the governor assured that the rates from 2019 would be the same, or even be a little bit less, for the GovGuam employees’ share of the health insurance premium.
She added that the health providers are the same as are the services, if not more.
“So have an open mind during open enrollment and ask questions. Your fears won’t be allayed, if you don’t ask questions,” the governor said.
Aetna has said its members will benefit from a range of enhanced benefit options while retaining the basic features under their current program.
According to Aetna, members will continue to have access to St. Luke’s hospital in the Philippines, just as they do today. In addition, through Aetna International’s off-island benefit, program members will now have access to over 1 million providers on the U.S. mainland, including world-renowned hospitals from coast-to-coast.
