Governor Lou Leon Guerrero is off-island in Washington D.C. for the next week.
She left Thursday morning to attend the National Governors Conference at the Washington convention center this weekend.
Next week, she’ll be attending a series of meetings with senior military officials and senior White House staff.
In a statement to the media, Press Secretary Krystal Paco said the meetings will focus on the return of excess federal land by the military, projects related to the Guam buildup, foreign labor policy, and the Compact of Free Association.
Leon Guerrero will also be meeting with the Assistant Secretary of Interior and testifying before the House Committee on Natural Resources on the 2021 federal budget’s impact on Guam.
Paco said the governor remains in regular contact with Acting Governor Josh Tenorio. She is slated to return to Guam on Feb. 15.
