Governor Lou Leon Guerrero says she may lift additional social distancing restrictions by mid to late June given the ongoing trend of no to low numbers of positive cases of COVID-19.
During an interview with K57’s Patti Arroyo this morning, the Governor cited the 247 tests conducted on Wednesday with only one case coming back positive.
“Those are good markers, those are good results that we’re looking at,” said the Governor. “Even more so since we have increased activities since we lifted the restrictions.”
“I’m actually looking at maybe mid-June, late June, for PCOR 3,” said the Governor.
“That would have given us over 30 days of monitoring and data that would give us great assurance that PCOR-3 is the next step to take.”
The Governor said she thinks the pace of lifting the coronavirus restrictions has been “very conservative … we are lifting, monitoring, lifting monitoring,” she said.
“Now I think is a good time, and I feel comfortable with the numbers that we have to start, again, lifting these restrictions,” said the Governor.
The State of Health Emergency will probably have to be extended one more time through July, said the Governor, even if PCOR 3 is declared, because she still needs to have the flexibility to maintain social distancing restrictions.
“If I am going to extend it one more time, I’m hoping that will be the last,” she said.
